Im 25 weeks pregnant, and last night was very ill with food poisioning. I vomited heavily 4-5 times on 2 seperate occasions throughout the night and have diaorrea and a slight temperature. I just cannot face food at the mo, although I feel I should eat something. I did call doctor this morning who told me to drink fluids and rest, which I have done all day. At the moment Im feeling really sluggish and tired, but the sickness has passed although the diaorrea is still there. Has anyone had anything like this when pregnant and how did u cope with it?

Ur doc advised u to have fluids coz almost all cases of food poisoning are self-limiting (they get cured automatically). Antibiotics are not good during pregnancy and is the option left only in severe cases.

u cant face food. So in order to have proper fluid intake as well as nutrition i would advise you to have fruit juices with proper intake of fluids to avoid dehydration.

If u still think its getting no better then rush to ur doc.

DONT STRESS URSELF!!!

Treat it like it's the flu: fluids, and really gentle foods (saltine crackers or plain noodles, maybe some chicken broth). Get as much rest as you can, and let your body flush out the sickness. I'm so sorry you're feeling this dreadful, but take it very easy till you feel better.

I got sick like that really bad after eating Applebee's shrimp....believe me i will never go near that stuff again!!! Mine was sooo bad with the diareah and cramps we actually thought that i was having contractions early.........And i did end up getting really dehydrated..

My suggestion to you PEDIA LIGHT !!! Even if you think you are gettting enough water drink more x2! I didnt realize how much it takes outa you! But pedia light got me back on my feet much faster and made me feel better too. other than that...just try and relax i know its hard...luckily my hubby was home and held me and talked to me i was very lucky

All you need to do is take your prenatal vitamins, and drink as much water as you feel comfortable with.
It will pass, and your baby will be fine :)
