Hi this all dpend on a few things, your age,the type off fracture you substained, how you done this injury.Colles fractures normally take between 6-10wks to heal but sometimes after the fracture has healed you may stil get some swelling and discomfort for a further few mths.Just do what he Consultant has told you and the fracture will heal in time.Good Luck

It depends on how bad the fracture is - if it is a clean break, you are looking between 6-8 weeks to heal. Until it is healed it will remain in plaster.

I would also like to point out that a fracture IS a break. It is the medical terminology for a break, so don't let anyone fool you saying a fracture is worse or better than a break. It is a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It takes about six weeks for any break in a bone to heal. Depending on the type of break you should be out of plaster in four to six weeks.

Also, a fracture is not worse than a break, it is just a different term to describe the same thing.

A broken bone is not always defined as a fracture, much as a fracture is not always defined as a broken bone. A broken bone is defined as a complete severing of the bone, as in opposition to a fracture covering any type of crack or break in the bone.
So YES there IS a difference !

A fracture is worse than a break. If you keep using the wrist that is fractured it will never heal right. Also you could end up with carpal tunnel. It all depends what you are doing and sometimes it could take up to a year to heal and even then it's not guaranteed it will heal right.I
suggest you ask your doctor but I know thye are going to say some people heal faster than others.
