My daughter is almost 8 months old and she seems sleepy to me. I guess I am ready for her to be up to play more. She typically goes to bed between 9 and 9:30 and is up by 7:30-8:00. She takes a nap at 10 (usually for 2 hours) and another nap around 2:30 (again 2 hours). She sometimes will take a "cat nap" (30 min. - 1 hour) around dinner time. Does this seems normal?

Yes, 3 naps a day is normal for any child under 1 year old.

If she is sleeping that much at night, than she is fine.

My 6 month old has the same pattern, goes to bed at 7:30-8 sleeps until 6 a.m. and takes a 1-2 hour nap in the morning, and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and a half an hour at 5-6 p.m. Babies and little kids need 10-12 hours of sleep per day counting the normal night sleep.

I have a six month old who sleeps from 7pm to 6am then is ready for a sleep at 8.30am for 2- 2 1/2hrs down again at 12:30 - 1pm for another 2 hrs and will sometimes have a cat nap in the afternoon before tea. If this is how much sleep our babies need to be happy and content little people then there is nothing wrong with it. Sleep is needed for brain development so I wouldn't be worried.

Then, I suppose I have a "sleepy" baby, too. :) She is a year now, but STILL sleeps 7-7:30 and has 2 naps a day. I wouldnt worry for now. I would suggest trimming out her cat nap, however. She doesnt need more than 2 naps a day. I am just now trying to trim out one nap so she is down to one LONG nap mid day.

Generally at that age it is 11-12 hours at night and 2-4 hours during the day. So that sounds about right to me.

My 11 month old sleeps 11ish at night and 3 during the day (in two naps)

All my children had very different sleep patterns. I had my last baby, a girl, Feb '06, at the moment she wakes at approx 7am, a 1-2 hr nap at about 11am then she's awake all day until bedtime at 7pm.
This pattern suits us as I have three other children ages 10, 8 and 7, and need to spend the evening with each to do homework and play games etc.
It's hard to do all that with a nosey baby trying to get in on the act! Also it gives me time in the evening to do my stuff (Watch TV and stuff my face with choccy!!!) And clean up of course...........ahem.
I can't say what's 'normal' as all the other children had a different routine altogether...

I have six children...two still at home. I think her naps at 2 hours each are a bit close, but everyone is different. My babies went to bed earlier at night...7-8pm and were up by 6am...but everyone has their own schedule. Don't worry if she's not too fussy, feverish or have a rash....she's just growing. She needs sleep to grow properly...it's ok Note: you never said...but...if you let the television babysit (hope not) it can lead to problems....I saw this with a friend's baby...she left her in her swing in front of tv and her baby slept too much.

My daughters were the same way...what I did was when they were closer to one I moved the morning nap to noon. I also moved bed time to 7 and didn't let them nap before dinner. Its normal...I also thought my kids slept a lot...don't worry its fine.
