I have a Tag watch. Have had it for 4 years and haven't ever had a problem. I noticed yesterday that the second hand is now ticking in 5 second intervals. do you know if this means I possibly need a new battery? I called Jared where it was purchased and have to take it in and they have to send it off to TAG - they couldn't give me a price for a battery or approximate. If anyone has any ideas on the price for the battery or the possible problem please let me know! I have no problem having it professionally taken care of, I just want to know what I am looking at spending.

What kind of Tag is it? Most tags are actually automatic (no batteries). There are two types of mechanical (no battery) watches: automatic and hand wind. Obviously you don't have a hand wind or it wouldn't have worked for 4 years (you have to wind those everyday like a pocket watch). You can usually tell if it is an automatic by holding it up to your ear and listening to the rotor spin when you turn the watch.

Automatics wind by the movement of your arm. If you don't wear it everyday, it'll wind down and you'll have to restart it by changing the time and keeping the rotor moving. Usually a fully wound watch will keep time for 24-48 hours after you stop movement. If you take off your watch for long periods of time, you may want to invest in a watch winder which will keep the watch moving and not let it wind down.

yeah i know it's a hard decision, LVMH charges you too much for a simple battery change. but if you open the case yourself, you'll void the warranty, and you don't want to do that. i'm not positive sure but maybe the warranty will cover it if it's your first battery and still within the warranty period. because sometimes a watch left in the store for too long and by the time you get it, the battery is already half dead. so check on your warranty first.
