my first appt. blood tests alone cost over $300 i had an ultrasound to check viability of the fetus, another $300 and just to see the doctor was around $100. i only had to pay $15 out of pocket, insurance covered the rest. most offices test your blood on the first visit for around 10 things, and each test costs between $20-$50. not cheap.

It depends - do you have any type of insurance? If not, it will probably cost quite a bit. My prenatal care package in 2005 was 2600 USD, that included all the visits throughout the 9 months plus the post-natal 6 weeks after delivery check-up. But it didn't include labworks and ultrasounds. This was before insurance.
Some examinations are necessery, some are not, you can tell them what type of blood works you want out of the ones they offer or want you to do...but each of those labworks can cost a few hundreds of dollars even, without insurance.
And some practices don't take patients without insurance...Good luck!

well I'm Canadian so it's free. However I know in the states it's expensive to see a doctor. I had to go in for a bladder infection and that was $145 just to see a doctor plus $70 per test done.
All I know is it's not cheap in the states! Sorry.
If you just call the doctor in advance and tell them what you want done and ask how much it would cost at the most then add $40 and that's probably a good guess!

Just to see the doctor will be between $100-$150. They normally also do a bunch of blood tests and an ultrasound at the first visit, but you can postpone those until after you have insurance.

Most doctors don't charge per appointment when it comes to pregnancy. They usually have a package that includes all the appointments and delivery of the baby, but the packages exclude lab tests and ultrasounds. I just had my baby 2 months ago, our doctor's package was $3276.00 for a up to 14 routine OB checks, physician's portion of delivery charges, hospital visits after delivery, post-partum checkup at 2 weeks, and post-partum exam at 6 weeks. I'm in Idaho.

go to your local health department or social services to find out about medicaid for pregnant women. they will pay for all your visits as well as the birth of your child. it's really worth a try... the income guidelines are not too strict. I'm "poor", and i have a happy, healthy baby boy. we have a second baby on the way... and i plan to keep him too. "poor" people can have kids too... and get by just fine. I'm happy i didn't even consider adoption or abortion. (i didn't like the first answer!!)

I have insurance, so I do not know - but I would assume anywhere from $100-300. Go to Planned Parenthood.

Costs vary greatly depending on where you are. Post what state you are in and maybe someone from your area will answer.

Go to Planned Parenthood. It's free if you're poor enough...although if you're that poor, you shouldn't be having a baby. Think about abortion or adoption.
