After looking at some of the intial answers, don't u think that americans have something called 'casual style', i mean where else would u find ppl wearing undies jutting out of knickers/ shorts (hope am not sounding too crude but u see that in the US all the time), isn't that a kind of style in itself!
and americans buy all the european fashion, more than europeans do (americans have more money i guess), and remember tom ford for gucci, supposed to be the most influential designer of the past decade even with all the european bigwigs, doesn't it prove that americans can be pretty stylish if they put as much time and effort as europeans do.
not to say that i believe americans are more stylish, just am really looking for an answer to sway me one way.

Not even close. I used to work for Disney and you could tell who were the american dads, and who were the european dads..
American dads would wear shorts, and some kind of baseball hat, a muscle shirt, and socks and sandles
While the European dad would wear a nice pair of designer jeans, and flip-flops, a form fitting Tee, and maybe a nice watch or wrist-band.

Europeans all the way. You can nearly always tell someone's American on an English street just by looking at them because they're not as stylish and the women wear far too much make up. Europe's got style and beauty written all over it.

i would say no. im half european and half american so dont think i am favouring either of the continents.... but i have to say that even though the general idea of americas fashion is about the way all the celebs dress that live in hollywood or new york but they dont represent the general idea from the whole of america. alot of places and parts of the us are un fashionable,outdated and stuck back in the mid 80's. in my opinion europeans are more fashionable....

I think Europeans have more dressy clothes while Americans usually dress more casual. Europeans dress with more style.

well al ive seen from the europeans is in magazignes and what they show in magazignes isnt the whole truth but as far as that stands i think europeans are more stylish

i think europeans are more stylish b/c there the style comes out first then it gets to america....so were behind a little...there they dress more nicer....here in america u can go to the store with sweat pants...there they would make fun of u....they dress every place they go outside the house..here pople dont really care

Americans dress how they want to dress.
Europeans dress to show everyone how important they are when they are actually penniless. This example was set by royal families. It really is an identity crisis and very materialistic.
