Hi my mum is having a hard time in finding something to wear to my wedding. She is 49 years old she doesnt mind me telling her age and she is very petite and a size 10, the thing is she wants a knee length dress thats in a pastel colouor like lilac or dusky rose, or anything that isnt a dark colour as its for a wedding. The thing is we have looked in everyshop you can think of, Next, ,dorothy perkins, monsoon, top shop, new look, marks and spensers, and all they have is dress either black or navy or with hippy patterns on which my mum said she doesnt like. When we look at the sites for mother of the bride they all start from a size 12 and are far to long. So it there is anyone who knows where she can just get a plain pastel coloured dress, it can have a bit of detail on it but not alot. Thanks

Try going out window shopping in a mall if you come across a store that sells formal clothing then don't be afraid to go inside and take a look. Ask the clerk or somebody who works at the store to help your mother find the perfect dress for the wedding.

my best friend got married awhile back and her mother had the same problem shes size 8 and was nearly gonna just go into a childrens shop and just pick something but then a friend of hers told her to pick out a nice material and get the dress made she did this and from the same material got a bag and shoes covered she looked fab so if there was any dress makers beside you your mother could go for that option best of luck

As its for a wedding why not try the designer boutiques like Karen Millen. They usually make more of the smaller sizes and have the added advantage of being a bit different to the usual high street stuff.

If she knows the style she wants, why not have one tailor made. Bring in a picture and any decent dressmaker can whip one up in no time. Can't believe that the sizes start at 12...but even those can be taken in and adjusted.

What about the sort of jacket and skirt look? They have very nice ones on loads of websites. I know you said you've looked on every website but I know this one has a HUGE list of websites that might help:
http://www.thebridesmother.co.uk/

But just looking on google, I've found some petit websites that may be useful:
http://shopping.msn.com/results/shp/?bCatId=8340,minPrice=120,maxPrice=189.99
http://www.bestforbride.com/prom.html
http://edressme.com/

Good luck and have an amazing day!
Lorna

And of course, there's always Ebay.

Are there any bridal shops there? Many of them here in the States carry dresses for both mother of the bride and groom. Wherever you bought your dress should be able to give you an idea of where to shop.

If you can get it shipped to you - try Macy's online. www.macys.com - maybe they ship overseas.

If she's just after a simple style and dress why not choose some material and get one made to measure?
