I've read books like "the Dating game" and the 2nd one. all of the "gossip girls" books. and most of the "Clique" & "The-it girl" books. But i would like to read books with more diversity in ethinicity cuz in these books there's always just a token asian, hispanic, black and in some cases the books are just all white!! I dont care about the race of the author just as long as there is a diversity in the characters race.

Philip Hall Likes Me, I Reckon Maybe by Betty Greene. Excellent book. There's a sequel.
I am sorry, I can't think of any other black teen books, but here are some books that have more diversity:

Dreaming Water by Gail Tsukiyama (no blacks that I recall, but more mixed races and not your typical fluff. Excellent book with substance.)

The Acorn People by Ron Jones

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series

Because of Wynn Dixie by Kate DeCamillio

I suggest reading Monster by Walter Dean Myers, Big Mouth & Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates (it's been a while since I read this one but I remember that it was really good), Parrot in the Oven by Victor Martinez, My Year of Meats by Ruth Ozeki, Linden Hills by Gloria Naylor, and Indian Killer by Sherman Alexie.

My Year of Meats, Linden Hills, and Indian Killer may be a little deeper than what you're used to but still good choices for a diversified book. I know it can be tough trying to find a good book to read sometimes - I hope you find one you like!
