Hi. I am Japanese. And I see lots of people in US wear those small piece of materials on their heads. Is this kind of fashion or just to cover baldness?

No, in Judaism (and many other religions) it is required that the head be covered when praying and showing devotion to God.
Depending on how devout the person is will determine whether they wear a yamulke all the time or just when in prayer.

No fashion statement there. The people you see wear this little hat are wearing that because it is there belife that God wants them too. They do this because they are following teachings that are quite old and are well respected like i said thought to be the will of God.
The other ones that you mention are also doing the same thing for the same reason.The difference is that they below to a different denomintion of jews . they are more orthodox its called there is other names for the different groups but the ones with the big hats and the black clothes are more strick or at least they dress as members of a lot that are more strick . they will be the ones who most likely dont eat pigs or other animials with cloven hoves and only eat food that is cosure that is not spelled right but looks good . that means they would only eat food the rabbi has given the green light too. the ones you refer to with the big hats may also be very much involved in the diamond trade.
I ENCORAGE ANYONE THAT IS THINKING OF GETTING A DIMOND TO LOOK INTO THE TRADE OF DIAMONDS BEFORE YOU DO . THERE IS UNSPEAKABLE TORTURE TIED TO THE MINNING OF DIAMOINDS THAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW.

No, it's not designed to cover baldness (that's coincidence)
And the big hats are for the very religious sect of jews - Orthodox...
I hate them bc they're tacky and single out jews.
