I had to do this. I have one cd- from Gateway that came with my computer desktop. There is a total erase re-boot, and a re-boot with all the origional programs on it, with your added files on it. However, when I try a total reboot, my own files are still on my hard drive. I know because I can search in "pictures" and find the pictures on there even asfter re-boot. And when I search under "my-back up" there is a list of every time I re-booted my computer. I don't understand why I can't get this off of my hard drive. It doesn't say my memory is being used up, but my old files still exist if I search for them, even with complete erase and re-boot. I'd be curious if anyone knows why I can't erase these.

On a Gateway, you normally just hit the F11 button during startup.

Also, if you have the Gateway recoverey CD or DVD, then just put that in your drive and boot directly from it.
