She is a normal human being who was able to pass lots of tests, What's the fascination here ?, so she went off the deep-end emotionally, that kind of break-down can happen to anyone, no matter what their training. Yesterday Lou Dobbs , self-appointed savior of the middle class was so shocked a trained astronaut, such a professional person, could do such a shocking thing, he was so almost disbelieving, he I guess he must be a little more elitist than he wants us to know, I used to like him

I think most people including the media have put astronauts on a higher pedestal than the rest of us mere mortals. They take on such danger in the jobs they do, we just naturally assume they've been tested up the wahzoo for just about everything. It really surprised me to hear them say that NASA no longer does personality testing or psychological profiling and haven't since the mid 70s.

Listen, you really don't want someone in the small confines of a space capsule having a bipolar episode or spinning out of controll emotionally or mentally, it can put too many people in danger .

And I think that's why the media is ' over covering it' as you say.

Yes she's a normal human being whatever normal is and she has had alot of stress in her life of late, that perhaps she hasn't dealt too well with.

She's achieved many wonderful things but that doesn't preclude her from having mental health problems .

I hope whatever happens she gets the help she needs. But she HAD to know in her heart of hearts that threatening someone just wasn't right or kosher, no matter how much she thought she loved the guy.

The story is surprising. People love that stuff. If you haven't figured it out yet - news shows cover whatever they think the people will watch. Higher ratings mean they can charge higher amounts for advertising. Sad - but it all comes down to the money.

The media always go for sensational stories about celebrities. I am surprised, too, that woman who has taken as many pyschological tests as she has was not detected to be this unstable.
