Money is worse. This is because wood (paper is wood) holds more germs than a hardened plastic or metal handle on a shopping carts. You can clean handles, you can not clean dollar bills. Also money is normally kept in warm dark places that is sometimes even moist!

You can't really avoid money unless you use credit or debit cards. You can avoid touching surfaces that could hold germs. Using alcohol or Purell wipes are fantastic. I personally use Purell wipes for toilet seats. Even though a handle is has more germs than a toilet seat (ironic huh?!) it gives me piece of mind and lessens the "Gross" factor.

I always thought the shoppings carts were the worst! When I had my first son 10 years ago I used to clean the handles with wipes or a travel size Lysol spray. Honestly, when was the last time you seen the stores disinfect their shopping carts? Walmart is now providing disinfective wipes next to the shopping cart area for their shoppers. So it looks like our concerns are also concerns of others!

As for building your immune system, the only sure thing you can build against are cold viruses. Because your body builds an immunity to viruses not germs or bacteria. If the latter was the case, then there would be ecoli vaccines, etc. But there aren't! Germs are everywhere...just remember to wash, wash, wash your hands after touching anything you feel was infested with unknown germs!

i have a bottle of sanitizer in my pocket at all times.i don't touch anything if i can help it ,esp.buttons, handles,i pull my sleeve down over my hand and open doors or push buttons.i also have wipes for to clean a phone before i use it.i only use my own computer, and i use gloves in the stores.i've been sick a few times from touching things.even your mail is germy.i kinda have a phobia about germs i guess.but i do try to act as normal as possible when i'm out.another big germ catcher is restaurant menus, pretty bad ,they never clean those.

Germs are everywhere. Everytime you get sick from the shopping cart you build up your immune system. It'll make you a stronger person. Embrace your germs.

Faucet handles, unless you use the ones with censors to turn the water on and off automatically, all the germs on peoples hands are on the faucet handles or the toilet flush handle.

I totally believe that! That makes sense. Sometimes I grab a cart and it's all sticky and I think how disgusting it is - and when I get home I immediately wash my hands.

think about it next time you use a phone at work, or a public phone....GROSS!! but in all honesty i wont use the handrails on stairs in public, or touch the rubber rails of an escalator...call me crazy i just think they are disgusting..but then again so is shaking hands with people, but we do it all the time...germs are everywhere i suppose it has more to do with your immune system than anything though.

Hey thanks, everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I try to tell them how filthy and germy money is. Everyone I know who handles money for a living is always getting every illness that is going around.

Both are full of germs...to know what one has the most, you would have to count them

The kitchen sponge! There was a special on Oprah about germiest places in the house, and he showed what was on your sponges! They are soooo nasty.
