Yes there is a difference... A companion can be jsut a friend to spend time with and do things together but a spouse you are also intimate and have sexual relations with and you are love and commited to til death do you part. A companion is more like just a friend BUT a spouse is someone who you spend your life with and build a life together with. But a good marriage is when you are both a companion and spouse to each other. People can be a spouse and be strangers and not be companion or friend to the other person at all. There is a difference between the two.

yes a companion is some one you live with not married a wife or husband can be a life time companion also but your committed to your spouse

I think anybody can have a spouse....it's all about the paper.....but a companion...that's what you have to strive for.

There is a huge difference. When you enter into a marraige, you are making a committment. It requires a lot of effort to make any relationship work, but that added commitment is what allows people to get through rough spots they might not otherwise survive (as a couple).
