Sorry, but that would put the PC crowd and the "Blacktivists" out of business.

Yes, definitely! Some people feel that, because black achievements are often glossed over in mainstream history curriculums, it needs to be taught seperately. That seems more than a little segregationist to me. Wouldn't the better solution be to stop glossing over black acheivments and give them their due in the mainstream history books?

I'm assuming you're from the US and, if that is the case, then I'm surprised that "black history" is not included in your curriculum as it is surely an integral part of the development of your nation.
My history teaching included anything and everything that was relevant to my country, irrespective of race, colour or creed.

Yes!! But the race card is played by those who want to keep bigotry alive. In fairness, however, Black Americans have never been given their due in history books.
Chow!!

I am a history teacher. I cannot separate history and segregate the history of one group from another group. It would be an extension of what has been done for centuries. I teach it all together as it happened when it happened.

Yes, it should. In the school I went to it was. I can't understand why there has to be a special date, special category for it. Why not Italian-American history, or Irish-American history? Or...well, you get the point.

I totally agree... I think it's foolish to break it all up - it kind of promotes racism
