So, I have been having a few symptoms of preg... Cramps last weekend for no reason and sore nipples. My period is due either Friday or Sat and I have been so anxious that I took an early test last night and it came up neg. I was bummed and my husband told me to give it a little time and retest maybe with early morning urine. I tested this morning and got a faint line.. i mean really faint. I had to have him take a look at it but he saw the faint line too. My question is this... has anyone had a very faint line and taken a digital test to confirm? I don't want to waste a digital test if it will show not pregnant because it is too faint on a line test. I know it is early and I know I am testing early but we have been trying for a while and we are really excited to possibly become parents. Acutally, I can't think of anything else that would make us happier. Thanks for any input!!

Yes! I took a test and got a VERY faint line, then used a digital test and it said "Pregnant". :)

If you have any lines showing at ALL, its a positive. It detects the hormone levels, and each brand detects at different levels. Some detect as low as 10 (like the dip sticks at your DR's office) and some as high as 30.

I have been told by a few manufacturers of PTs that you can a false negative, but never a false positive because the line ONLY shows up if the pregnancy hormone is present.

If you leave a test sit too long, however, on some brands the line will appear. You have to read the test within the 1st 3 minutes or the results are void.

Good Luck and congrats! :)

I took a digital test first and it said pregnant, then a regular test and I didn't see a line. Then two days later, another digital and it said pregnant again and then another regular and it had a really faint line. Then two days later, another regular test and the line was darker. I think that the digital test may be saying you are pregnant because the chromameter reading the color of the line (and there is always two lines with digital - it is based on the chromatography or something like that) is much more sensitive than the naked eye. Check out peeonastick.com

PS - I was concerned because I read that digital tests were getting a bad rap for false positives (at peeonastick.com) but I think it may be more human error because people try to read the stick inside and they are not supposed to, plus if it really is sensitive, you could experience a "chemical pregnancy" where you wouldn't have even known otherwise.

The only reason any line, no matter how faint, might show up is because of the hormone the test is looking for. Even if it is faint, if it is there, it is there for a reason. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like you might be pregnant (very early). The line looking for the hormone should not have appeared at all unless the hormone is there. Congrats and best wishes (here's to hoping you get what you want!)

It takes a while for the hormones to build up, so it is usually advised to wait 7 days after you miss your period before testing, the faint line means simply the test has only picked up a small amount of hormone in your urine. But did you test with the first urine you passed when you woke up in the morning, because the hormones get diluted as the day goes on and you drink fluids and urinate. But even a faint line is a positive. You can have many false negative results, but only very very rarely do you get a false positive. Don't worry, having a faint line has nothing to do with the well being of your pregnancy, but as you had a miscarriage, arrange antenatal care immediately to be on the safe side.

I took 4 pregnancy test because of really faint lines. I never took a digital one though. I was pregnant, and have a 7 week old baby now. Congrats! Even if there is a faint one your pregnant, unless you waited to long to look at the results, in that case it could be inaccurate.

I would say that you are pregnant!!!! I am currently 7 weeks pregnant, I took the early first response test a week b4 my period was due, cause like you I was wanting to be pregnant and couldn't wait to find out. I got a very very faint line, then 2 days later took another test and it showed up a little darker. So I would definitely say you are pregnant!!! Congratulations and I wish the best of luck to you!!!!

as long as you read the test in the amount of time stated, and saw a faint line, then you are most likely pregnant...but if you had to squint to see the line or hold it up to a really bright light to see the line then most likely not.... wait about 2 days to retest, the pregnancy hormone doubles every few days. if in doubt go to your doctor to get a test done there.

A faint line = a pregnant line.
Some, if only a little, of the pregnancy hormone was detected.
Congratulations!

Congrats! I am so happy for you. I am in the same boat as you. My husband and i are trying to conceive and i have to wait one more week to test. Even though i can't wait, i also dread coming up with a negative result. I agree with what is posted here that you can have a false negative but not a false positive unless you are taking certain fertility drugs. Hope it works out as you wish. Good luck!

Yes this happened to my wife with first baby except the dr said the test was negative she waited four days and tested at home only to get a faint line. She was pregnant. She went and prayed about it and God told her she was preggers. ALso, there has to be Hcg in your system to make it test positive.

Good luck!

ALso, digital tests at Wal-mart are way cheap.
