Giraffes are well adapted to a life in a savannah. They drink water when it is available but can go weeks without it, they rely on morning dew and the water content of their food. Their very long necks are an adaption to feeding at high levels in the treetops. Their physical adaption, a long neck, does not only help them to graze but also helps them keep track of predators and it enables visual communication with other giraffe over several miles.
In the giraffe did not have a long neck it would be an easier pray for predators and it would not get as much food.
Similar to giraffes are elephants. They use long trunks to reach high tree-tops.

Here are some structural adaptations:
Long Neck -- allows the giraffe to eat leaves that other animals can't get to.

Big Heart (and rapid heartbeat) -- pumps blood at high pressure to get it up to the brain.

Blood Vessels -- elastic vessels and valves prevent sudden buildup of blood when the giraffe raises, lowers or swings it's head quickly. This prevents it from blacking out. Thicker, less elastic blood vessels around the legs decreases downward blood pressure to prevent blood pooling in the feet.

Tight skin around legs -- also prevents blood pooling in the feet by decreasing downward blood pressure.

4-chambered stomach -- for digesting plant matter.

Here are some behavioral adaptations:
Herding -- keeps the girafffe safer from predators

Drinking -- When drinking, giraffes are very vulnerable, so they take turns drinking, so one can watch for danger while the other drinks.
