Yes 16 year olds are to young to drive. Most of them are immature and shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car. So many 16 year olds are killed each year because of careless driving. If they raise the age that would help. Just like some grown adults shouldn't be driving either but that's a whole other subject.
Some grown adults shouldn't be drinking but I think 21 is an ok age to consue alcohol.
Vote- 18 is ok
Smoke- Well at 18 you are considered an adult so if that's what you want to do as an adult so be it. Nothing we can do about it.
Handle heavy machinery like a car- No

They can't in the UK. Law says 17 here, 16 if suffering from a serious disability or if driving a restricted moped (no more than 50cc). There is no physical reason why 16 year olds shouldn't be able to drive a car, but insurance statitistics do show them to be at a much higher risk of having an accident than other groups, reckless behaviour amongst young males being the key problem. Personally I think a rise to 18 would be no bad thing, it would reduce insurance premiums for everyone, including young drivers.

It should be 21......most of the accidents that I respond to are people under 21 who are not responsible behind the wheel of a weapon ! Here's just one example: 4 teens driving on a open 2 lane road , all intoxicated , approaching railroad tracks and did not pay attention to the fact that there was a train PARKED , not moving , and slammed right into a tank car.We put 3 in squads to the hospital and I put 1 in a body bag ! This happens all of the time.21 for everything across the board !

Well when I was 16 I didn't think so but then again when I turned 17 and the first day I had my license I drove through a fence lol. Not to mention all the times I was drunk driving at 18 in college. Probably not a good idea.

not always, no. Most of the time, Yes.
I think it has way more to do with maturity and driving skill than age. I think i was perfectly fine at 16 (i was a car nut, still am, and really respected cars, knowing what they could do), but many of my friends, No. I know many 25 year olds that arent mature enough to drive though.
that being said, i think 95% of drivers shouldnt have their liscence. People dont come out of our pathetic excuse of a driving school with the needed tools to safely operate a car. I think people should have to go though a race school or similar to get their liscence. It teaches you invaluable car control skills, how to be aware of whats around you, its fun, and would make everyone a far far better driver.

Yes. Way too young. Their minds aren’t mature enough to be held responsible for a car. They’re ALL about fun and doing what they’re not suppose to do at the age of 16 and when you put keys in their hands, that could lead to putting their lives as well as strangers' lives, in danger because of immaturity and pure carelessness. I say too young. I myself, was careless when I first began driving and now that I look back on certain times, it blows my mind that I could have gotten into so many accidents because I was so careless and just got sucked into the being ''free'' feeling lol I don’t know and never met, one 16 year old who wasn’t careless when they first began driving. I think the alcohol age isn’t too bad even though I know allot of 21 y/o's who still are unresponsible when it comes to drinking. For smoking, the legal age should definently be raised.

YOu could add another one to it. To die for your country in war 18. I think 16 is a good age, it allows you to easy into responsibility, plus in high school that is about the time when you want and should have more freedom. But then again if you work on a farm its younger for even heavier machinery

when you start work at 16 you pay tax which goes towards improving roads so why shouldnt 16 yr olds be allowed to drive?
