(Ice) Hockey (invented in my ancestral home town of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada) is the greatest sport EVER; nothing even comes close.

Hockey combines the very best attributes of every other sport -- speed, agility, hand-eye coordination, stamina, brute strength, mental alertness -- all at breakneck speeds for long periods of time without a stoppage in play.

Also, unlike any other team sport, there is no out-of-bounds area to run to in hockey. If a player is coming at you, you either have to quickly move out of his way or be nailed hard into the boards.

And lastly, when another player is acting like a dick or pisses you off, the refs will allow the play to stop so you can beat sh|t out of each other until there is only one man standing (or until the linesmen break you up). There is never, ever a dull moment in a hockey match.

Hockey also produces the toughest players of any team sport. In the playoffs a while back, Ryan Smyth of Edmonton had all his front teeth knocked out and was left with a gash on his face requiring several stitches. He only missed 20 minutes, and then he was right back out on the ice again. Can you say the same thing about any other sport???

For many of the same reasons, rugby is the second greatest sport. Most other sports are crap.

I think mixed martial arts is the best sport, particularly the UFC. A mma match has more action in it in one minute than most sports do in their entirety. Watching mma is exciting and engrossing. You simply don't get bored. In other sports like football or baseball half the time I'm barely interested. UFC rules.
