STEVE NASH is OVERRATED!!!!?
I am on the verge of losing sleep due to the fact that he is winning MVP's over questionably two of the greatest players of all time when it's all said and done. If I just woke up from a coma and somebody told me that Kobe Bryant hasn't won an MVP yet, I would probably pass back out into another coma because it's completely sickening. It amazes me that, over the last few years, a mundane stat such as an assist has become more valuable of a stat than scoring points. Not only does the fate of an assist lie in the hands of the players around you (literally), but you can get an assist as effortlessly as making a two handed chest pass to James Jones and watching him make a three-pointer with a hand in his face. I'm tired of hearing the claim that Nash makes everybody on the floor a better player, because I am just not buying it. I believe it's the contrary, and that all of the players surrounding him lead to his success. I'd like to see how many of his assists are tallied directly from Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion baskets, because I'd be willing to bet it's well over half. I'm convinced Kornheiser could drop 10 dimes a game if he took Nash's place on that filthy Suns squad. It is a joke that Nash gets all this credit simply for being the primary ball handler on one of the best teams in the league. The thing is that I actually like Steve Nash and I think he's a great player, but I'm big on giving credit where it's due, and it's not due to Steve Nash. Recognizing the underdog is cute every once in awhile, but you have to draw the line at some point. If they're going to keep erroneously giving the MVP to Steve Nash, they should change the name of the damn award, because he is not the most valuable player in the league and everybody knows it. They might not say it, but they know it. It is so frustrating being an avid fan of the NBA and watching a player score 169 points in 3 games, and having it be disregarded because, for some reason, the best player in the league doesn't get the MVP award anymore. Can you imagine John Stockton winning the MVP over Michael Jordan, not only once but twice? Because that is the equivalent of the present scenario. If you took Kobe Bryant off the Lakers, they would struggle to be a .500 basketball team. If you took Steve Nash off the Suns, they would still be one of the best teams in the Western Conference. And it's not just Kobe Bryant. You could make a case for about ten better MVP candidates than Steve Nash over the last two years. It's not hard to see why everybody loves the guy, but come on. You would think a guy who has won the MVP two years in a row would be starting in the All-Star game. I'm pretty sure the MVP voting committee is screwed this year, because they almost have to give Nash one more undeserved trophy. He didn't deserve it last year, but they had to give it to him because he had a better season than the previous one, and the same thing is happening this year. Are we just going to keep giving this guy the MVP for outplaying himself? Another thing I want to call Steve Nash out on is being selfish. "What?!? A guy who gets 12 assists a game is selfish?!?" Yes I believe so. I don't see the difference between 1)a guy who ignores open shot opportunities and goes out of his way to get an assist to pad his stats, and 2)a guy who drives to the basket through three defenders for a dunk to pad his scoring stats. In my opinion, both guys are selfish. I was watching the game a few weeks ago where Nash had 4 points and 21 assists, and he was blatantly trying to get an absurd amount of assists. It looked like he told the team in the locker room before the game "Hey guys, try to get me a lot of assists tonight," because I'm pretty sure every player who recieved a pass from Nash in that game threw up a shot. Doesn't the significance of an assist become diminished if the player recording them is practicing unnatural means of getting them? And by unnatural, I mean playing out of control and completing one out of three behind the back passes in traffic, and getting glorified for the one that he successfully completes. There is a reason he leads all point guards in turnovers. Is that something an MVP is really supposed to do? Okay, I've been rambling for quite a bit, but that's just the way I feel. Am I truly insane or am I just thinking about this more rationally than most people seem to be? Either way I think the voting the results of the MVP voting the last two years has been an utter travesty.

NBA MVP. Literally mens the NBA's Most valuble player. Not the suns' or the spurs'. I always thought if I had to pick one player this year and start my team who would that be.

NOT NASH.

ok, so after reading your lllooooooooonnnngggg question/comments, I have to partially agree with you.
Steve Nash doesnt deserve the MVP award, not this year nor the previous years!!! I am a Lakers fan, & I would say Kobe should be top candidate for MVP, but my first pick for MVP would have to be Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks!!! Regarding your comments about Steve Nash, i believe he did make the Suns a better team, because b4 Nash, the Suns weren't even taken into consideration, now that being said, the Suns would be a good team without him (at this point). The lakers in the other hand would struggle to stay a .500. Either way, Nash is a bit overrated just like other NBA players out there. The only thing I would like to add to your comments is. . . . Y would anyone consider Arenas as a candidate for MVP, seems like ever since he had a big scoring game against the lakers, thats all hes been trying to do, have huge scoring games, what else has he done, its not like the Eastern Conference has any "tough" teams. Now, wouldnt Arenas be considered a "ballhog".

Here is the difference between Jordan and Kobe: Wins, losses, and championchips. I agree with you that Nash is overated, but the only player that was on par with Kobe last year was LeBron, who damn well deserved it more than Kobe. And saying someone is selfish because of an assist is retarded. You probably don't watch the Suns play, but Nash takes a lot pf shots and scores as well as giving out dimes. Any point guard on the Suns would rack up assists. I mean, those athletes they have are freaks! Besides, blame it on the coach. Those guys in Phoenixx shoot the ball whenevr and from where ever.

Nice rant self proclaimed "Dr. Basketball" but it's time to come back to the planet we all live on Earth. First your right it would have been a travesty to see John Stockton get MVP honors over Michael Jordan I agree with that 100%, but I don't recall ever seeing John Stockton go off 40 on any given night either. As for the matter at hand Steve Nash. He is without a doubt the best point guard right now in the NBA. Yes he has guys around him who make his job easier, but in no way should that diminish his accomplishments as a player. His two MVP's were deserved and to say any thing else is absurd. Kobe is a great player and is absolutely of the MVP caliber, but the NBA is a what have you done for me lately type of league. What has Kobe done post Shaquille O'neal. He scored 81 in a game which was an awesome performance, but he's barely made it into the playoffs a couple of times. I personally think Steve Nash deserved his MVP's and think he is rated and will continue to be rated correctly as the best PG currently playing in league for some years to come.

What Steve Nash is definatly not OVERRATED he scores 20 points a game and has averaged 19.3 points this season. He even dishes out at least 15 assists per game. He also makes about 45 percent of his shots. He also being the point guard the guy who controls the offence for his team is leading the suns to the best season possibly ever. Winning 15 in a row then going for 17 in a row I mean this guys individual stats may not be as good as kobe's but his team is winning!

I disagree. Your who take Nash off the Suns they are still one of the top teams in the west. do you remember them before Nash got there?

29-53 the year before Nash got there, 44-38 the year before, and 36-46 the year before that.

I can understand your side of the story, I say take Kobe off the Lakers last year and they'd been lucky to win 20-30 games. Take Nash off the Suns last year and I think they'd be lucky to win 30 games without him running that system

The whole award is meant to be giving to the player who most improves his team and his teams chances of winning. I would say Kobe and Nash both help about the same when it comes to this. I think last year ether one could've won the title. I'm sure some people didnt vote for Kobe because some people just do not like him. I'm a Dirk fan, so I wasn't happy Nash got it last year either but I also think last year there were 3-5 players who could've won I wouldn't have complained.

Now I'm hearing this year, Nash may not win because they don't want to give him 3 in a row. there's your first sign that this whole voting process isnt 100% perfect.

I'd like to talk to more about this and other NBA issues but havent got the time on here right now, feel free to email me at DarbyD53@hotmail.com if you want to discuss, argee, argue, or anything.

I agree Nash is OVERRATED!!!

He should not have won the award once, let alone twice...worse that he is being considered for a third.

This year, you could argue that Dirk should get the MVP.

Think about it...Nash leaves Dallas and Dirk and the Mavs get better, especially on Defense. The Mavs lead by Dirk have made it to the finals...now I wont get into the disaster that happened with the other 8 people that the Mavs faced on the Court, but let's just say that Wade is too good to get the free ride that he was awarded by the referees.

I digress...

Bottom line, Dirk is the MVP this year and any one other than Dirk would be yet another negative mark on the NBA and how it hands out awards.

I agree with what you have to say. Steve Nash does not deserve to win the MVP again. Right now the way I see the MVP race going is

1. Dirk
2. Kobe
3. Arenas

Nash has been hurt lately and has been sitting out but the suns have still been winning games witout him. You take any of thoes three players off their teams and they wouldnt make to playoffs. The lakers lost to new york when they didnt have kobe. Dirk is the only all star on his team besides maby josh howard. and Arenas has lead his team to the top of the east.

Your insane, if you took Nash off the suns they would be a .500 team. You could take Kobe off the Lakers and they would be about the same as where they are now. Nash is the best player in the league, I dont know if it upsets you that a white canadian is the best player in the league or not but thats reality.

The only other case that can be made for an MVP is for Arenas, or Nowitzki.

Get over it man, you are a loser. This is the second time I've seen this ridiculous, poorly written rant and probably won't be the last. Grow Up. Steve Nash is much more valuable to his team than Kobe Bryant is to his. And he's not a whiny, punk, rapist Shaq-hater.
