I live in Charlotte, NC and I am a Democrat. People in the North don't know what Bojangles is. Of course they also drink unsweetened tea, which is horrific.

People have may up a stereotype of what a Southerner is and what a Northerner. Seems you're from the South, they assume you're Republican possible evangelical. They don't understand the concept of YellowDog Democrats or BlueDog Democrats. They need to learn that there are Southern Democrats and Northern Republicans.

don't take this in a bad way but , why do you care i live down here in florida and i am from pittsburgh pa and would love to go back home but i am stuck here because of a custody agreement with my ex husband and were stuck in bay county unless we both move so i'm stuck here for 10 more years i'm not leaving my boy or taking him from his dad so here i sit in the south where a lot of folks have a problem with the fact that i am from up north i was even introduced as "sarah she's a yankee" for quite a while at work and i know some people are just joking but there's more that are serious and many establishments have signs with the rebel flag and sayings like yankees not welcome and yank's shot on sight so i can imagine that you are a rare commody where you live an open minded southerner but i think as the years pass the south will eventually become more open and hopefully less predjuice your just ahead of the times i guess so hang in there and get out your thicker skin lots of people don't respect others who say what they feel espically if it's something that goes agnist the norm so hang in there and don't let them get you down that's the beauty of america we can think and act and speak whats on our minds with out fear from the government but it's your fellow man you need to watch out for when making your opnions known to all so good luck i consider you a true southener but also an exceptional one at that

Hmmm... I was unaware that people were saying this about you.

You didn't mention your position on illegal immigration, yet, so I am not convinced you're telling the truth.

EDIT: Hmmm... Not a "Bush-robot," huh? Are there bunches of those in the South these days, then? I hadn't noticed that, either. Seems to me these days, it is more likely that the SHEEP are jumping on the bash-Bush train. And I'm actually not FROM the South, I just choose to live here.

This only goes to prove the point of how ridiculous the partisan system is in the US. How can geography possibly determine one's politics? And how is it not possible for an individual to think like one?

If only people could believe in issues without being a rep or a dem! I don't know how America will last throughout the next election!

I'm from the deep, deep South and registered Independent - siding more with Democrats these days. I know lots of Dems in the South who are very moderate. Nothing unusual.

My mother was born and raised in Alexander City Alabama. She met my dad who was in the Army during the Korean War and they went back up to New Hampshire and had me, so I guess Im one of those "elite Northeast libs' that "badjanssen" was talking about, but I do believe Suh, you are a Southerner.

Just FYI, there "Badjanssen", you DO know George W Bush was born in Connecticut, right? Do you consider HIM of those "lil ole libs form the elitist Northeast as well?

I believe you. I spent a year in North Carolina maintaining commercial aircraft avionics systems with TIMCO. I really like NC but I know very little about SC.

You despise close mindedness!!! All your answers and questions reflect your hatred for anyone or anything conservative. Poking fun at Christians because you don't share their values is not "open mindedness.

Democrats and Republicans don't understand what a Southern Democrat represents. Maybe you should tell them to do some research yellow dog.

Never mind I'll do it for you
