I think it might be the best night of that three year old's life. Little kids love that kind of stuff. Just make sure you make him wear earplugs like the people mentioned above. Holding his hand and an occasional hug will probably make him feel more comfortable too.

The monster truck show here in Houston, Texas is VERY, VERY loud. That being said, I don't think that occasional exposure to loud noise is really that harmful or detrimental to one's hearing (the key word being "occasional"). I would surely not deny my performance-oriented son the pleasure of seeing any motor sports event, no matter how young he is.
Perhaps a set of ear plugs or even ear-muffs, if you're that worried might help; just explain to your son that he has to wear them or he'll end up needing permanent hearing aids when he's ninety-six!

i have a 2 year old and this month she will be going to her first monster truck show.. my only advice is to pick up a pair of headphones for hunting they run under ten bucks and a actually not that uncomfortable.. just get him used to them first. and the loudness.. it depends on how big of an arena they are in .. they are loud but not extreme.. i think you two would have an awsome time..

They are very loud but I don't think it will bother a 3 year old. We took ours at two and he loved it. Take ear plugs if in doubt and have fun

i think it would be too much for a 3 year old. he would prob just end up terrified. itd be like taking him to a rock concert.
I would wait a couple years. When i was 6, i went to my first NHRA race (much louder), and had a blast (i did wear earplugs though). At 3, i would have been scared to death.

I took my little girl to a smash-up derby when she was about that age. We used my hearing protection headphones (normally for shooting or woodworking), and she had a good time. Other than getting a little bored. If it is indoors, it will be very loud.

Hey, if it's so loud that it would make him cry, it's not like he'd be bothering the other spectators.
