Another good question. Probably because loyal Republicans tend to also be loyal Americans, who prefer to not bash the President on a public forum, while our nation is at war.

With regards to the Iraq war, Republicans also see the hypocrisy of the Democrats who voted in favor of the war, now bashing it.

Republicans will be Republicans because of what we believe, as our core values. This is not based on the President.

I am guessing that because you are a political cultist you think that people really give a crap about political parties. Milions of Dems voted for Bush TWICE because the Dem candidates were so piss poor. Labor is in the GOP camp and will go back to the Dem camp if they have somewhere there who represents them. Kerry has personal wealth of 463 million dollars and its hard to sell him as "everyman/man of the people". People who identify themselves as libs or conservs think they are the cutting edge of political thought when it fact this is a moderate country and the lib/consers are just junk on the edges who X each other out on election day. Lib/Consers are extremists who think that everyone is so heavily involved in the worship of politicians, when in fact they make us sick. Moderates rule the country and that is why Presidents are usually somewhere in the center, otherwise they could not get elected.

I think that concept works in reverse. Those people who answer the poll as being unhappy with his performance may be considering changing party affliations because of their unhappiness with his Administration. I don't think that anyone looks at the poll numbers and says oh, 70% of Americans don't approve of the Republican President, I guess I should turn Democrat. I had a hard time with the wording in figuring out exactly what you meant in your question but that is what I got from it :).
