First off, I'd like to commend you on not being afraid to ask when you aren't sure about something. The first step in being a good parent is admitting you don't have all the answers and asking for help when you need it. Bringing a little one into the world can be a scary thing on it's own, doing it alone must be downright terrifying.
I did breast and bottle with both my kids, and finding the right bottle for my oldest was a nightmare. I tried several different brands, all with no success. He finally settled on the Playtex Drop-In Bottles with the big squishy nipples, but it was a good month of trial and error.
I wouldn't recommend buying 'packs' of anything because you may end up wasting your money. Start with single bottles in 2 or 3 different brands. For example, get one 4 oz. Gerber bottle with the slow-flow squishy nipple, one Playtex Drop-Ins bottle with the normal narrower nipple, and one airvent bottle. Try each one in succession(use each one exclusively for at least a week)and see which works best for your baby. If you want more information on bottles, try this article: http://att.iparenting.com/babies/bottles.htm I hope this helps, and congratulations on your upcoming delivery!

I use the Dr. Browns bottles. My daughter had really bad acide reflux and GERD. As soon as we put her on those bottles we noticed a difference almost immediately. They are by far the best bottles. They may be a little more pricey, but they give the baby less air and they work great!

When buying baby bottles, you better consider quality (you don't want them to get dissolved when boiling) and also that they have a nipple r system that minimizes the air intake for your baby (so ou will save her from getting gases or even worse, colic).
I used Avent for my first child, since his first bottle to the toddler's cup. And Playtex for my second one, the ones with the disposable nipples and bags system.
I did not use Gerber because a friend mother of two said she wasn't satisfied with it.

I have the Playtex/Disposable Liner ones. The biggest advantages are removing air and convenience. Gently squeeze the liner (or with one type of this bottle, push up the plastic lever) to push out the air through the nipple. Then when your baby is done, toss out the liner.
The liners aren't too expensive, especially with at least Parent's Choice making a compatable version of the liners. I also get a couple uses out of the liners, which isn't recommended, but I'm careful about sanitizing them.
An extra benefit of disposable liners is if a bottle gets lost with formula in it, the worst you'll have to do is throw out the liner and nipple (which nipples are about $4 for a 2pk and come in slow and fast versions). This is from personal experience.

My niece and nephew both used the Avent bottles. I really liked them. One of the babies that I am watching now using them Gerber ones and they work fine also. The Avent bottles don't give off as many bubbles is the main reason we use them.

I work in a Preschool. Most of the bottles that the infants use are either Advant or Dr. Brown's. They are suppose to prevent air from going into the baby's belly. Also, the disposable bottles from playtex, the ones that have the disposable bag. Once the milk, formula, breast milk, is warmed, you slowly press the air out of the bag. It helps to prevent colic.
Hope this helps.

Neither of my kids liked the Gerber bottles. I used the Dr. Brown bottles, which are very good, or the Avent bottles. Playtex Vent-Air were good too....

I have a 2 month old and we like the Playtex VentAir. They help with the air going into her tummy and they are easy to clean. We like the standard size vs. the wide ones. Also the standard size tends to drip less at the nipple.
The Soothie's are a close second but they're all wide bodied which will be okay once the baby is older.
Hope this helps a little.

I have used the Gerber bottles, they are ok but I find the nipple is a bit short. I prefer the Playtex nursers with the silicone nipple, which is a bit longer than the Gerber nipples. I also love the drop-in's that go with the Playtex nurser....less scrubing!
