Is it really important to have kids?

My whole life all I wanted was to raise a family, have kids, enjoy everything they do and want to do. But lately I've been wondering if having kids is really that important. I'm going to be 21 married for 3 years and it seems like children aren't in my future, is it ok not to have kids?

Of course it is okay to not have kids. I mean it's a completely personal decision. You are still really young. You don't even have to make a final decision now. I have one baby boy and didn't have him until I was 28. I know a lot of people that wait till their 30s to have kids. Just give it time. You'll know if it's right for you and your husband.

It doesn't matter what anybody else wants - it's what's good for YOU. You don't say why you think children aren't in your future; if it's a medical problem, that's not really an issue. There are hundreds of thousands of children in America that need to be adopted. You're young. If you're wondering if having kids is really important to you, then it probably isn't right now. It's ok.

At 21 most women have no ideas what they really want, neither do men for that matter.
Children may or may not be something to look forward to in your future, for now, unless it is a "discussion" between you and your husband presently, you shouldn't worry about it.
If & when you both are ready for children you will know it, and if you never feel ready or wanting, there is no problems with that either.

This is one of those few things where it is truely up to the individual. If it is important to you, it's important. If not, it's not.

You are only 21. You might not like to hear it, but MOST women eventually change their mind. It might not be until they are 40 or more, but they usually do.

BUT work this out with your husband ASAP. If you cannot agree, it's time to end this in a hurry, so that he can marry a woman who will give him a family.

You probably didn't like to hear that, but it's the truth.

For now enjoy you marrage work on your career as you grow more kids might come later on when both of you are ready. I know people who have a great career and nice car-home and waited to have kids until they were 30 now they are more prepaired now then if they were 21 good luck :)

I think one of the worst things people can do--and it's something people do all the time--is to have kids when they're not ready or just aren't the parent type. Having kids is a lifelong change. PLEASE don't have children if you can't get them 100% of your love and attention.

if that is how you feel than so be it....just because you are a woman doesn't mean that you have to bear children. Life for women have changed since the 60's...women now are more career oriented. So it is your call not the man's

Of course its ok to not want to have kids. I think its very unselfish of you to be honest with yourself.
Too many people have kids and are not good parents, because they have them for the novelty of it.
If you dont want to have kids, especially this day and age, then dont. Be true to yourself and your feelings. Its perfectly acceptable if you choose not to. Its your life, and no body is gonna live it but you. So do what you WANT to do.

It is really important to NOT have kids, for the vast majority of people. Do you want to wreck your life financially? Have no privacy with your partner? Have endless fights and conflicts with your spouse and kids over discipline and parenting issues? If you're a man, have your child used against you by a vindictive woman to extort more money in a divorce settlement? Do you want a child to call you for money, blame you for everything wrong in its life? Then just have kids, and lots of them!

if u want kids but can't have them biologically then u can have kids legally.u can adopt a child ,this will make someone's life & also u will be able to be a mother ,which will surely make u content & happy.
