It is a bride who never marrys or says ido... She runs before she ties the knot. Usually leaves him at the alter. This is a runaway bride... You should watch the movie runaway bride with Julia Roberts in it... This will show you very well what it is. there can be runaway grooms too lol.

I am the true "runaway bride"

I was living in Scandinavia and I was engaged...when I tried on my wedding dress 2 weeks before the wedding I knew I did not want to marry him. Basically to make a long story short...one week before the wedding I came home to north America, where I live...I told him that I no longer wanted to marry him.

A female engaged to be married, usually on her wedding day decides she does not want to be married and doesn't know how to just say it after all the preparations have been made for the wedding day. So instead of saying she changed her mind she just leaves, takes off and doesn't tell any one where she has gone to for fear they will try to get her to change her mind or force her into going through with the wedding after all ( it is more her parents and fiancee she is running from than any thing else)

This refers to somone who makes plans to wed and backs out..Most commonly i tis used to describe someone who backs out Right before the wedding..as in a gal who "left someone at the alter"..( does not show for ceremony) but it can also be used if someone backs out a bit before..( a few days )
