Poinsettias are not an easy plant to grow. They require a fairly narrow temperature range without drafts. Even just being in close proximity to the cold glass of a window in winter can cause problems.
The red leaves which most people think of as the flower are actually not the flower. The true flowers are green or yellow and very small, not ornamental in the least. The red leaves are called bracts, they serve as a a shield to protect the flower buds. The only way to get more of them is to make the plant flower again.
Poinsettias are extremely difficult to reflower. This is because poinsettias require a very precise ratio of darkness to light in order to induce the flowering cycle, and the darkness has to be complete. Ambient light from night lights, street lights, light pollution from nearby parking lots etc... can cause them to not rebloom.
Personally I'd recommend you just toss the thing in the compost bin and be done with it. If you're up for the challenge you may find some helpful information at http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/poinsettia/reflowering.html

On a trip to Hawaii I was amazed to see blooming pointsetties the size of trees. Since then I have put them in my garden during the summer and they grow large green and lush. By the end of summer they are too big and do not transplant well back into pots for the house. I have also treated them like any other house plant but the red color is not very impressive by the next winter and they are rather spindly. Maybe more fertilizer and bigger pots would help. The yellow "berries" are the flowers - the red is just the leaves changing.

They only bloom during short days and long nights. They ought to bloom again at Easter time. Keep them in a place where there aren't lights on the evening so they can "rest". Keep watering it and caring for it with some plant food. Don't feed it when it's blooming though,.

Hi!
I don't know where you live or if you have the same sort of access sites as I do, but I just typed in "poinsettias" ( there is no 'r'!)and got a very good site on Yahoo from the University of Illinois here in the States .... at the bottom of the first page you will find information to help you get them to rebloom ...I don't know how to cut and paste otherwise I would send the article to you.
Peace & Love

poinsettias bloom with substantial sun during the day and long nights. that is why they look best at winter solstace (the shortest day of the year) -- which is just before christmas.
