A woman I know says tha her husband had an affair and she put him out. A year later, she met up with an old boyfriend. Alathough he was married and had the typical complaints about his wife, she had a four month thing with him. She beleives that because she had no interest in her husband, wasn't calling him, etc., spending her time with her kids or this man, her husband became interested in her again. They are now back together for 9 months and things seem to be going well. Was it her affair or something else?

It's possible that it woke him up in this circumstance.
However, I would not advise someone to have an affair to wake up their spouse.
How can we really know what it was that revived their marriage.
How do we know that things are really better 9 months later?

I think this depends on the couple. Not everyone will forgive an affair. It can destroy and hurt a relationship.
You can't control your partner's behavior, but you don't have to set yourself up to get hurt either. Inoculate yourself against infidelity by making sure you're attentive, involved and plugged in to your marriage.
That is great that they were able to make to past but it does not work like that always its not a good idea to have an affair to make a relationship better. It could just go wrong.

It doesn't necessarily make the marriage better, but it can create a balance that wasn't there before. After my family situation, things were re-evaluated and it made me realize what was important and what wasn't. I feel blessed that I was given an opportunity to see my mistakes and grow from them. I can't change the past, but I am stronger and wiser because of who I was--I am a better person now, and I feel we are a stronger couple now. My husband is still hurting, but I will spend the rest of my life doing whatever it takes. He is my gift, and I am his, and we are one.

I think when somebody has an affair and the husband or wife knows, they can get back together again but I think the relationship will not be the same.I think it will be a little weird after everythink because you know your spouse had sex with somebody else.

No that definetly does not help out a marriage. he probably later realized that he needed her and missed her. maybe he just got back with her out of convenience and bcuz it was a comfortable marriage and it was way better than being alone. think about it, if this were really true, why do so many people get divorced when infedility occurs? 9.5/10 would divorce if their wife/husband cheated on them. it would be to much to take. personally

No way.....
I think affairs can be worked through
There will always be a trust issue somewhere in the back of the mind...... but never would it make a marriage better!!!!
