I've just ordered a new bike. Trouble is, I like to ride all year and no matter how hard you try to keep them clean, the front and bottom of the engines always suffer with pitting and rusting. I would like to coat these vulnerable areas with something and leave it for the winter, then clean it all off in the spring. Any suggestions on the best stuff to use?

I should add that over the years I have tried all sorts of applications without much success. New bike is a MT-01 which are quite pricey, so I want to keep it looking nice for as long as possible.

Finnigans wax oil is used under car bodies. It coats and goes semi hard and a few layers would coat the aluminium of a bike nicely. It will wash off with a little Jizer in the spring
It's available in either 1litre or larger 5litre tins. Easiest way to apply is by spraying under high air pressure if you have this available. If not you could ask your local garage to do it for you. I run a small place and I also ride bikes and would be pleased to do this and would not take up much time therefore I can see that it should not cost much

Good luck and ride safely

I have used Sykolene Proprep for the last 15 years.

Spray on after every wash (wash at least once a week)

It provides an oily coating to the shiny bits and make cleaning much easier as the much doesn't stick to the metal.

Avoid getting this on the tank paintwork as the oily film will make it difficult to repaint later on.

I used to ride all seasons and had a shiny chromed Kawasaki Zephyr that looked as good as new when I sold it after 5 years of all weather riding (not snow or ice!).

Id just give it a spray of wd-40 every 3 weeks or so. Keeps things clean and free. Anything that sticks to it can easily be wiped clean

that`s too nice a bike to use in winter!buy yourself an old shed.
3 in 1 have a good range, they do a water resistant lithium spray grease i`m not sure how heat resistant it is for the engine everywhere else is o.k wd/40 is always good.you need to hose your bike with cold water aswell.

You could use scott oiler 365 spray, Its made especially for bikes. The other option would be to use car wax oil. Which ever you choose its no substitute for regulafr cleaning and re application.

Waxoyl is what you need, hands down the best. For this application I'd use the "clear" aerosol. Link:
