in other words, how prone to suggestion is someone on acid? can a cult leader, perhaps, use acid to spike the cool aid in low-semi-moderate doses....and no one knows it....and amass a large cult following that will do anything that you tell them? has this been tries before?

People on acid maybe more prone to suggestion, but I think the results would be erratic and impossible to control. Since individuals handle the drug differently, and cult leaders usually desire a uniform group action, using acid to exert control over people would probably be a bad idea. For every person you're able to effectively influence, you'd have 5 more just running around the room and painting stuff on walls. Besides, people can be brainwashed easily enough without drugs.

Acid does make people do things they would not do normally, but you cannot control what they will do. This is one of the major problems with using acid. LSD in the unrefined state unintentionally got into the food supply at several times in Western History. Sometimes people thought that acid victims had demons or were being controlled by Satan. These people were very hard or impossible to restrain. The only thing that could be done for them was to restrain them until it passed out of their systems. Brainwashing people who are on acid would not be possible. And I am even talking about doses that are very small. Brainwashing before the acid is taken though...

No- people probably won't pay much attention to a cult leader if they were tripping. They'd be looking at the walls waving or looking at how weird people look. They'd laugh or freak out if someone told them to do something they weren't keen on. Plus, a large cult wouldn't all act as a unit because people act different on it, so would be having a quiet trip, some a fun trip, some a bad trip, etc.

Acid was devoloped by the US & British governments and tested on soldiers during WW2 and the troops that were under the influence of LSD had some amazing kill stats. I can't find the book I had about this right not but if I come across it I will edit and update this post.

Damer. He tried to put real acid in his victims heads. And as for Manson his "family" was often times on drugs. But he and Jim Jones worked mostly on their charisma.
