I know this is a bit of a silly question but if we were all blind would racism still exist. Does racism come from someone not liking another persons skin colour?

Animals treat other differently just like humans do. The difference is that humans KNOW better.

I read an interesting story years ago, about this very topic, I think it was in Analog or Asimov sci fi magazines. This fella was blind and his best friend was a different colour to him, he didn't realise until someone told him. He wondered if he was actually better off being blind. Unfortunately I agree with most of the answers so far, Some people will always find a way to belittle and abuse others, as said part of it is ignorance or natural primitive fear of the unknown but some is just plain bullying. Other times it can be caused by abuse a person has recieved by others of a similer group. Sexism is a perfect example, ie: women beaten and abused by numbers of males thoughout life, may become so frightened they can become predujice. This said, it does not excuse the behaviour but understanding can enable healing to begin. Personally I love all the different colours, looks, sounds, languages, cultures and so on. The only time I have a problem is when an individual or small group of individuals advocate harm to self or others. And then its the individual I have a problem with.
Imagine a rainbow in just one hue, wouldn't be so spectacular would it?

Racism is not just about the color of someones skin, goes farther then that, like religious beliefs, values things of that nature so to answer your question yes I believe racism would exist in this demoralized society.

Racism exists in certain animals such as birds. If a budgie is released into a flock of starlings, they will gang up and kill the budgie because of its different colour.

Yes. I doubt we all look the same colour to colourblind animals. Anyway, we'd find another divide. We'd have sex. I guess maybe height and weight...or texture of hair.

Then we'd have questions like, why do all 5'6" people commit the majority of crimes in America? Are they born that way????

Perhaps you should ask some blind people and find out what they think.
