Neither.

The L2 Cache is built into the processor. Data transferred from the cpu to the L2 cache doesn't go anywhere near the North or south bridges.

Generally your northbridge controls data from the memory and agp. Your Southbridge would control IDE or SATA functions, Pci/Amr/Cnr, and other built in peripherials such as sound and network.


It used to be the north bridge that connected to the L3 cache on motherboards, but that was a rare site in desktop computing.
