I just woke up with a really uncomfortably painfully tight belly, it lasted about a minute or two, about 15 minutes later it came back, its been about 15 minutes since that one and so far nothing has happened. What could this be?

You may be having braxton hicks contractions. Nothing to worry about unless they are regular and closer together then you need to see your doctor. If you take a warm shower or bath it will help elevate the pain. Real contractions would come back after the bath in 20 mins or so, braxton hicks contractions won't.

Braxton Hicks. Fake contractions, this is similar to what will happen with real labour.
Sit down and elevate your feet. Hopefully it isn't labour this early, but it could be.
I don't think you are in labour. I think this is braxton hicks and you have nothing to worry about. They say if you want to know if they are real or not stand up and walk around, if they go away then there's nothing to worry about. If they come faster and stronger, then this is real labour.
Also, when I was in early labour the nurses sent me home from the hospital and told me to have a warm bath(not too hot) and if they relieved the contractions, then I'm not in labour, or they will come stronger and faster...they came stronger and faster after the bath :)
So if you don't want labour this early, which I'm sure you don't, just lay down and relax, or put your feet up and try not to get around too much.

sounds like braxton hicks I'm also 34 wks and get them all the time now!!
HOWEVER i have been told more than 4 an hr needs to be checked and if you notice yours about every 15Min's id call the doctor/midwife or hospital just to see what they say.
although braxton hicks should be painless i do have some period type pain which i mentioned to my midwife but was told its ok as long as they don't get regular or stronger.
keep an eye on them for the next hr or so and then if they still happening call them for advice better to be careful still a bit early for baby to come x x x x

Braxton Hicks contractions most likely. They are practice contractions. You'll be feeling them more and more the last 6 weeks of this. They can get quite painful. The real ones will feel kind of different, and more intense.

It could be a Braxton -Hicks contraction - your body's way of practicing for the real thing. If they get "painful" as opposed to very tight, give a call to the OB.

Good luck

It was Braxton Hicks. The reason why women experience Braxton Hicks, contractions, is because your body is preparing itself for birth. But, make sure that they only last for 2 hrs, if they last any longer they may be real contractions and you would need to go to the hospital.

Sounds like contractions to me. They may be false contractions (very common) or pre term labour. Time them and keep track of them for an hour. In the mean time, get up and move around. If they slow down or stop, they are false labour pains. if they do not, call the doctor.
