i have the lightest skin of anyone i know, and i would NOT try Bare Minerals if i were you. i don't know how pale exactly you are, but BM's lightest shade was really pink (and still too dark on me). their next-lightest shade was orangey... and disgustingly dark on me!
i have the hardest time finding a good foundation match (sounds like you're the same). i would say i'm "neutral," leaning toward slight yellow undertones if anything (that is, not pink-undertoned). the best liquid makeup matches i've found to date are:
L'Oreal True Match in their lightest neutral shade (Might've been "soft ivory"? i don't quite remember). though this foundation was extremely sheer, and if you have major redness to cover (which i do), it probably won't to the job.
MAC NC 15. now this one covers pretty decently, and it's cool that they have concealers in the same shade, to help...but the problem with MAC is that it's known for breaking a lot of people out. it did this to me for years before i realized what was going on.
the makeup i'm using now is pretty good for color matching. it's a mineral makeup (powder) at www.aubreynicole.com, and i use the shade called "fairest light neutral." they have 5 "tones": cool, neutral, warm, golden, & olive. and within each of those, they start at a very light color, and move upward. they also have a wonderful concealer called "light complete concealer."
samples of Aubrey Nicole makeup are super-cheap. you can buy a sample pack of 2 foundations + 1 concealer + 1 finishing powder for $6.50 (+shipping).... and add a 3rd foundation for 99 cents. one thing though -- if you order stuff from them, the swatches on the site look nothing like the product on your face. so just order what sounds about right, or you can even send her a picture and she'll pick shades for you. their customer service is actually pretty amazing, too. she's SUPER nice, and usually gets back to me within the hour i write!
anyway, hope that helped... i'd love to know what you end up choosing, from 1 frustratingly fair-skinned girl to another! hehe =)

You can go to certain places and have the foundation custom blended for your skin tone. They customize foundation at a salon called Mario Tricoci. I had one made for my skin tone and I loved it. If you can't find custom blended foundation then I would highly recommend Clinique! I've used both, and if you go to the Clinique counter they will test different shades on your skin so that you get the closest match possible. They also guarantee that you will be satisified with the foundation, and if you're not satisifed with the colors that they chose for you they will take them back and exchange them for a color that better suits your skin. For low end foundation you can try Almay Smart Shade makeup. It starts out as a white foundation that resembles moisturizer; but when you start blending it in it adapts to the color that best suits your skin tone. I've used that one as well. While I prefer a heavier foundation for more coverage, I found that the Almay foundation was an exact match to my skin tone!

i recommend maybelline dream matt mouse foundation, but for the info foundation cant do miracles. For a more live skin and blushed naturally cheeks, i advise you to cover ur face with foundation then use a light bronze blush on the top of ur cheeks, nose, and forehead then blend with ur fringer tips to cover all your face. This way ur pale face will become naturally attractive.

I would try bare minerals. It is a flawless makeup system. I believe you can buy the start up kit from Sephora for $60.00. The kits includes two base foundation, an all over finisher, a tanner, and three brushes. It's well worth your money. I have one in my skin shade and you can't tell I'm wearing make-up, you would just think that I have great skin.

Go to a MERLE NORMAN botique! The experts will help you and I had uneven skin tones, blimishes, and my skin was a bit pale for a while, and their foundation covered every bit of it! Then you just put transparent powder on top to make your face look fresh and airbrushed.

I have pale skin, too, and the best foundation is Prescriptives. They will match the foundation to your exact skin color and it will not turn orange. You can find the Prescriptives counter in any good dept. store.

Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals is amazing. It's a little pricy, but it's fantastic. It's perfect for all skin types (oily, dry, etc.) and actually is good for your skin. When you buy it, they send you two different shades based on what you tell them your skin is like and it blends very well. It makes you feel like you're not wearing make-up at all, yet you look like you airbrushed perfect make-up on! If you try it, you'll never go back to that cakey liquid foundation! It's great!
Good luck,
Christi
