My son's motor gave out in his 95 jeep cherokee. The mechanic said to replace it but will it be worth it to do so. And should we anticpate other issues to arise once this is done?

Since this is a Chrysler product and the Cherokees have been plagued with problems I say bury it and put you and it out of misery.

What is the resale value versus cost to repair. Are you replacing with a good used engine much more economical alternative. Or a rebuild/new engine most likely way to expensive for this old of a vehicle. If it is a cherokee model i would be careful not to spend too much. If it is a Grand Cherokee i would spend a little more as the rest of these units is a fairly sound package and should last fairly well. You also did not include how many miles.

It would be worth doing if you enjoy the vehicle and want to continue the benefits of not having a monthly car payment. I would not rebuild, and buy a new one instead from you local auto parts store, since they are under warrantee.

It would be better to invest in a new/used quality suv, if that is what you want. A mechanic will sell you the world to put more money in his pocket! In my opinion those models are break down prone! And they lack power. Everyone I knows gets rid of them because they break down frequently and are high cost to fix!

i would not. it would probably cost more than the value of the car, and even if it didnt, the new motor would last longer than the rest of the car.

id scrap it and start looking for a new car.
