No, because he was universally hated in NYC and was a lame duck on 9/10/01.

Rudy is an adulterer who makes Bill Clinton look like a saint. Rudy had his mistress living with him in the Mayor's mansion while he was still married to his wife. How does he get away with that? Oh yeah, he's a repubican!

I don't get the idolization of Giuliani. He did the job he was paid to do on 9/11. There were no heroics but I guess compared to Bush who was AWOL that day, he did look much better. Also, some say that the ineffective rescue of the Tower victims was caused by his poor leadership and failure to supply the police and fire departments with communication equipment that actually communicated between the departments.

Without a doubt, he would have won. Yet, in 2000, he was running for U.S. Senator against Hillary Rodham Clinton when his doctors discovered he had prostate cancer. That knocked him out of the US Senate race. Because he had the cancer, he didn't run for NYC Mayor in 2001 and supported NYC's current mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The question is, "Would Hillary have won an election in Arkansas, where she actually lived?".

Answer: No. Thus, the move to New York. The rest is history.

It is in times of great difficulty that the character of a person really shows. On 9/11/2001 Rudy Giuliania showed that he was a man of great character. On the 9/10/01 most of us did not have that information so we would not have judged him correctly.

Obviously, yes. He had been elected mayor of NYC, and though I am anti-Republican, in general, he did make great strides in cleaning up his city, plus he's an adulterer, so he can't bring up all that "family-values" bull. He did lead the city well during the 911 aftermath. Give credit where it's due.
