They do it for you, the machine tells them what sensor is out on your car, and they will tell you how much it costs for the part. If you can't change it your self you call call the mechanic shops around town for an estimate, at least you'll know what part it is.

It is very simple. Go to the parts line, ask for a diagnostics check and they will hook up a small hand held machine that will tell you what the problem is. It's quick, easy and best of all free. If you are like me, write down what they say so you don't forget.

The codes the machine "spits out" will be interpreted in diagnostics in English. Example, a code 22348, in a book, may cross to an inoperative oxygen sensor...then you remove and replace the oxygen sensor.
They'll be able to tell you what those codes stand for.

they give u a general idea...i have seen ppl come in with printouts from them in my shop and the codes that they have pulled are completly wrong..generic code readers are not alwasy accurate! the best is to spend the hr diagnostic from your dealer and see what is really up with your car it may save u time in the long run and money

Bet ya 100 bucks if you go there they hook up there machine and tell you its the O2 sensor. They sell a million of the things and they dont really know whats wrong.

It will (engine light) blink a certain number of times and you look it up on a chart and it tells you exactly whats wrong.
