It's possible. Particularly if the content in the film had emotional significance to the person viewing it. There are also instances when people are simply moved by the moral of the story line, the plight of the characters or the situations they have to overcome.

Depends on the movie and just how depressed you get. I think for movies that are based upon actual events it is natural to come away from it feeling emotionally drained, especially if the writing and acting were realistic. This can be a good thing if people take action on their feelings by discussing the film, the actual events, their feelings and then doing something positive about it if possible. These movies help keep the memory of the event fresh. Only by remembering the past can we keep from repeating it.

Yes.. especially if the movie has a story line that really draws you in.

Movies are about entertainment... if they make you laugh, cry or walk out feeling depressed then you obviously have enjoyed the movie so much that you are able to connect in an emotional way.. whatever that emotion is..

Only if it is a really good movie, then the Director has done his job and accomplished the task of making experience real for the viewer.

If it is not a really good movie and the person gets depressed, then the person may have other issues.

If it's a great movie- it puts you there. I have cried before, and after seeing "Saving Private Ryan", I was depressed for about three days... it's a normal human thing called emotions.

Of course...I watched Flight 93 and by the end, I was totally bummed with the state of the world and those people who feel the need to kill in the name of their religion. It was an amazing film, and it really touched me. The best kind of films are the ones that illicit a physical reaction from you.

Yes. Subconsciously, you tapped into something in your mind that has been bothering you, maybe even a suppressed memory, that the movie triggered and that is why you got depressed.
Or, your just an emotional person.

You can do. Certain types of music can also do this to you without you realising over a period of time. I know people who refuse to buy the paper and some don't watch the news before bed because of this.
