Dear Yahoo!:
How do you get candle wax out of carpet?
Mike
Nappanee, Indiana
Dear Mike:
We don't know about the rest of you, but this is certainly a problem we've faced before. A search on "candle wax carpet" verified that this question is quite common.
We speak from personal experience when we tell you this quick and easy solution offered by About.com works wonders:
Let the wax harden, then scrap off the excess with a dull knife.
Place part of a paper bag, a sheet of newspaper, paper towels, or a clean cloth over the wax.
Using a warm iron, press gently on the paper bag. Be careful not to leave the iron in one place too long or you may burn the carpet fibers.
Voila! The paper bag will soak up the melted wax.
To remove stains left from colored wax, try gently dabbing the stain with a rag dampened with rubbing alcohol. If the alcohol doesn't do the trick, Heloise, that domestic goddess, recommends using dry cleaning solvent.
If you are one of those undomesticated and crumpled slobs who doesn't own an iron, one site offered a couple of alternative solutions to the ol' wax-in-the-carpet conundrum. Try covering the wax with a cloth or paper as described above, then use a hair dryer to heat up the wax. Or, you can use ice to freeze the wax and then pick it out of your carpet. Of course, we can't vouch for these methods but if you are facing an ugly blotch on your wall-to-wall, they are certainly worth a shot.

You will need a iron and some news paper. Put the news paper over the wax and run the iron over it until all the wax is gone and then shampoo the carpet it will take alot of paper if you have alot of wax.

Put a piece of a brown paper bag over the spot. Use a warm iron to go over the spot. The wax should melt and stick to the paper. Be sure to pick up as much of the wax as you can before doing this.

Put a brown paper bag over the wax, and then iron the bag. The wax will stick to the bag and should come right off.

Iv had the same problem. its quite simple.
put a cloth over were you spilt the candle wax and then iron over over it. the heat from the iron will melt the wax away and as it does so collect it up with the cloth. works a treat but you might need to scrub to get the last bits out:)

You could try laying down some papertowels on the candle wax, then putting a heated iron on the papertowels. As the wax melts it should be soaked up by the papertowels.
