Yes he can. You might want to mix with water though and use white grape or apple for awhile 1st. Other juices can be too acidic for young babies.

Gerber juice can be started now - start with apple, white grape, and if you want, prune juice. My 5 month old son has been drinking the juice for a couple of weeks now per the pediatrician's go ahead. He loves apple! Make sure you mix it with water - 1/2 juice, 1/2 water. Your baby will have an easier time with the sippee cup when he/she is able to sit up on his/her own. Good luck!

The real answer here is talk to your child's pediatrician. According to all child health care providers I have spoken with children should have nothing but milk (breast or formula) until they are 6 months old. Then they will tell you it is okay to give a small amount of diluted juice at that time. But the question is why give it to he/she at all it is unnecessary and adds NOTHING of value to their daily nutrients. The milk is really all they need. I got a pat on the back from my child's pediatrician for having never given my child juice until they were a year old which I diluted and they still only got a few oz. every once and a while. No need to rush things with your child. Kids these days are becoming obese because of poor eating habits started when they are young not that a little juice is going to guarantee this but why give something that is unnecessary and really not all that healthy. I have two GREAT eaters and I can say that without my face twitching .... smile!

I would check with your doctor or pediatrician. Babies are supposed to have only breastmilk for the first six months of life.
Some people start feeding their kid cereal and water, etc, but your baby definitely do not need juice at this age. If you feel for some reason your baby is in need for juice, dilute it extremely and no more than an ounce or two of juice a day.
Your baby needs milk to grow. Juice will just fill him/her up and not leave enough room for the milk.

The American Academy of Pediatric recommends that babies under 6 months of age have only breastmilk (or formula if necessary). Babies at 5 months shold not have juice. It can be a diruetic and can cause diahhrea. If your baby really wants a cup stick to water. I waited on juice till after my kids were a year and then still diluted. Whay get them started on sugary drinks (and yes 100% juice still has sugar in it) so early?

Talk to your pediatrician. Make sure to dilute the juice with water, about half and half. Juice can cause diarrhea if your child drinks too much and can cause some stomach discomfort. Water is good for them to drink too.

Yes You can give her diluted juice. Start with apple or pear. It's less acidic. My son started with others like orange at about 9 months.

You are going to get all kinds of different answers on this one. I know the world health organizatin says to stick to breasfeeding only for at least 6 months. However I can remember bringing my 6 month old to the doctor and them being very surprised that he hadn't had juice yet (he had a stomach bug and they were saying not to give him milk but juice). I would say you can give apple juice...but make sure to water it down a lot.
Good luck!

They don't need juice, why would you give it to them? My son is 11 months and has had juice maybe twice? Usually to disguise medicine.

Most definately. And they should be eating 1st stage baby food and baby cereal by now too! But don't give him/her too much juice a day; it gives them horrible diaper rash if you do! Something to do with the acid in the juice coming out in the urine! And I would stick to the little bottles of baby juice in the baby food isle, not the juices you get in the juice isle at the store! The baby juices are made to be better on babys stomachs!
