No, there is no one "all-encompassing" definition.
A good generic one might be being satisfied that you have accomplished whatever goals (specific or general, large or small) that you have set for yourself.
Success need not have anything to do with money or material things.
My personal definition would be: I've retired from 33 years of metal manufacturing with all 10 fingers, both eyes, and a healthy back. I have a roof that doesn't leak and a warm place to sleep, and a good woman next to me. We have enough to pay the bills and still have a little extra fun. We live in a small town area that has gorgeous surroundings and all the outdoor activities we could want.
Not a bad success...

The definition of success changes as a persons life changes. Success at age 8 could be learning to ride a bike or learning to whistle---while success at 18....well you see what I mean. So, success is achieving what you think you want at a certain time, but it is not the end of anything, but rather the beginning point of a new journey.

Success is the ability to understand when you have succeeded. In point of fact, it is the ability to achieve desired goals, but -- the means of attaining those goals can and will affect your feelings of success.
To succeed you must reach your goals while maintaining you personal integrity.

No, I don't believe so. Success is your own personal definition of that which you wish to accomplish. Since we are all different, the definitions will be different. Thank god for diversity.

Success is something that we like it as an outcome but we are not sure of that outcome when we started.

of course not, its all relative.
The best objective answer would be "contentness"
But of course some people are not always content, the same with happiness, some people actualy unconsciously strive for unhappiness.
