I started contracting at about 6 pm, and although they were painless I was getting them regularlyevery 2-3 minutes. I didn't get really concerned until at 11:30 pm they hadn't slowed down at all with rest, walking or water. Called my doctor and she told me to ge checked out..so I went to the hospital and they confirmed my contractions were every 2-3 mins, I was put on an IV and given a urinalysis..the IV didn't work so I wasn't dehydrated, and the Urinalysis came back fine...they let me go at 10:30 am this morning because I hadn't dialated and they contractions slowed down, but they had no information to give me. They didn't know why it happened. I am worried I am at risk for preterm labor, I go to see my doctor again tomorrow..Just wondering if anyone on here has ever gone through or heard of anything like this! So confused! No rude comments, please=)

Also, my baby is transverse ( sideways).. I dont know if this could have anything to do with it or not.

i had per term labor and i use to have contractions like that all the time, as long as you arent dilating i wouldnt worry too much about it, they will keep a close eye on you from now on.
good luck

My daughter did the exact same thing last week in her 32 week they also started IV and tested her urine. the contractions started at 8 min apart at 4:30 pm at 11:30 pm they were 2 min apart no dilation they had do give her med to stop the contractions and was sent home the next day with also no explanation. good luck and best wishes for your upcoming birth.

Sounds like it wasn't BH at all, those do go away with rest and water. Also, after a time they are not timable and become irregular. I went into preterm labor the first time at 29w and again at 31w. Went I went into L&D they gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop the cx both times and I have been on the pill form of terb every four hours since then. I am also on bedrest until I am 36w and at which time I will stop taking the meds as well.

Best of luck to you. Make sure you keep an eye on those cx!

It doesn't sound like Braxton hicks to me, as those generally stop when you are active and they are rarely that close together. Stay off your feet, walk slowly, try to rest.
There are various risk factors, but nothing you can really avoid now anyway.
What else can you do but hope and pray? Anyway at 33 weeks, the baby has a very good chance of surviving (60-90%).

Hi. What you have experienced are known as Braxton Hicks contractions and quite common. I found this web site for you that will explain it far better than I could. Hope this puts your mind at rest. There is nothing to worry about.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd child I started having false labor pains in my 7th month until I delivered 1 week past my due date. I think it was called Braxton hicks. I am not sure that is the correct spelling. I am not sure that is what you had, but I though I just let you know what I went through.
I wish you and your baby all the best.

Scary stuff!!
Don't do anything stressfull. Don't travel and try to get plenty of rest. I'm glad that you're not dialated yet. Just watch yourself close and don't hesitate to go back if it starts up again.

Perhaps you did something wrong, like spending far too much time sitting around on Yahoo! worrying about every little thing, and not enough time actually exercising and resting your body...

Way to go! Keep it up.
