"King" - very few people tried.

However, many tried to make him President for Life.

In my opinion, President Washington is the greatest
president this country has ever had, for one reason
and one reason alone: He stepped down after
2 years.

The implied integrity is almost unimaginable.

Supposedly they did, and he refused. Though I'm wary of such claims, since I also remember learning in the same class that though many of our distinguished and visionary Founding Fathers, including Washington, were slaveowners, they were "good" slaveowners.

no, they didnt want a king because of the problems that arose from the monarchy in england. they didnt want one absolut ruler to take over and becme a dictator.
