Great question...
Well I think we saw long ago why it took someone like Saddam to run things in Iraq...I have always said that removing him from power was a mistake...Good or bad he could control the Iraqis, sure his methods were not very popular among West countries, but he controlled the Iraqis...Now there are entire armies who can't control those people...

Yo have it all wrong. Saddam created the environment you're alluding to and then kept his people submissive by purges and executions and torture, same as Stalin, IDI Amin, Tito and all the other despots of the 20th century. It's folly to think what's happening now has anything to do with the removal of Saddam (very small percentage), most Iraqis were happy to be rid of him. Now there is a fanatical element bent on killing anyone just to prove that US intervention won't bring peace to the region. You can keep some of the people happy some of the time and most of the people happy most of the time but you can't keep all of the people happy all of the time.

No saddam was a monster, he had no remorse for all the women that were raped and torture all the men that were burnt and scared and all the people that were executed, he got what he deserved. The way the people are not the ones that are suicide bombers are the ones that were there under saddams rule (regime)and are just picking up where he left off.

Great question! Can I give you 10 points for it?
Iraq and Iran are both troubled countries for many ages and only ruthless people like Saddam and Ahmed (whatever his last name is) can control the rowdy, suicide committing, religion hating barbarians like Iranians and Iraqis.

It is becoming increasingly clear to many people that the people of the Middle East especially in the countries like Iraq and Iran where people are raised only to respect fear and religious fervor cannot successfully understand or exist in "Democracy". They have been raised for generations to be radical imposing people who need to have a strong ruler who would have them killed for revolutionary practices!
I don't know how many generations it would take to even bring them closer to understanding Democracy and equality!
Can we afford to for decades be involved in the attempt?

it's making me remember why we should forgo our world policeman status and stick with invade and conquer ( with us running things - like Germany and Japan which turned out quite well ) ( what it will take is a willingness to say no to their crap and an ability to write the new rules and enforce them with force - but then we would have even more crap flowing our way from the Europe of Appeasement ( known to some as the European Union )

YES! The way those people are, they need an iron fist on them or there'll be constant insurrection.

Also, he protected Christians and respected women's rights more than the current rulers.

He may, sad to say, be the best ruler they've ever had!

No I don't see why. Your question implies that "those people" need to have a dictator. This is very racist.

I think they need to learn how to live together but they won't get that through the oppression of a dictator.
