this is how the system is supposed to work...slowly..if at all....if it worked quicker and more efficiently, what would politicians do with the rest of their time..???? we could actually pay them less, and demand they do the right thing for our country...which elected them...not some other country, whose lobbyist is supplying them with fishing and vacation trips...by the way...do you know that politicians actually work only a day a week average..??? the rest of the trime is spent schmoozing, doing "favors" and trying to get reelected....

The percentage of people that don't bother to vote, or write to our representatives or start petitions or take time to be aware of the "laws" that get signed into existence, that aren't headline like the astronaut with emotional crisis, or Hillary's hairdo, etc. but ARE important- like our president's adding on an extra sentence or two to BY LAW then, grant his own immunity to laws we are all subject to...The people in this country by and large are more concerned with who's on Letterman tonight than if health care is adequate for the fireman, etc. who were there at ground zero 9/11, or if our ground water is still being polluted, & many other issues. We worry & gossip about same sex marriage, or who's hat's in the ring for the next election, but not if our troops have adequate armour. We are apathic unless it's our own discomfort. We need to wake up or we may get a first hand view of life in those far off lands.. I really believe alot of America is unaware of true horror as happened in NYC,New Orleans, & that area,if they only saw the TV coverage. We are so accustomed to the wealth here, we close out the actual conditions that are just news...over & over, & somebody else's problem whether its to live it or fix it. It's shameful humanity as a whole cannot learn from history. We seem to keep getting worse. Can you imagine if we each once a day did one selfless, kind, helping act toward another human being, without regard for a pay-off, pay-back, or recognition for it? It would be amazing how we could all change the world to the way we all say we want it to be.

The only time that I can think of when both parties worked together was during the 2nd W.W. They knew that the American people would stand for nothing but a united front; our nation had to have both houses work together for victory.
Since then both parties have gone to Washington with their own agenda. They will not cooperate with each other. They feel that they don't have to work together any more; that the American people will stand for their nonsense & elect some of each party back into power. One of the problems is that they will tack a poor issue on to a good one & try to get something that will make them look good to the party they belong to or something that will get them re-elected in their home state.
Another problem is that we don't know what bills they are trying to pass. We don't read enough to know what they are trying to do to us. We need to start sending letters to our representatives in both Houses voiceing our concerns. I have done it, you can too.

Republicans know the war isn't working but just because the prez is Republican they won't even let the Senate vote against sending more troops to Iraq!

Even the Republican who wrote the thing they should vote on voted against voting on his own thing! Republicans just put their party and Bush above common sense, the American people, our troops and everything else. That's messed up!

STATUS QUO. THIS IS THE SAME THING THE DEMOCRATS DID WHEN THEY WERE THE MINORITY.
THIS IS WHY THE COUNTRY IS IN THE STATE THAT IT IS TODAY. A LITTLE PAY BACK BY THE REPUBLICANS. WHERE WERE ALL THE CRIERS WHEN THE DEMS WERE BLOCKING EVERYTHING? WHERE ARE ALL THOSE THAT SAID THE DEMS WILL NOW CHANGE THE COUNTRY. THE 2 PARTY SYSTEM SUCKS WE HAVE NO REAL CHOICE.

Personally, I'd prefer fighting between the parties.

If they are fighting, then they aren't passing laws. I'd like to see the congress NOT pass some of the stupid laws they've been passing.

because neither party care about the american ppl. nothing will ever get done in washingotn like this. the dems want to raise your taxes...why...to pay for more illegals to come across our borders, and then allow them to vote in out national elections. Each and every pollitician need to be voted out of office and replaced....they hav enot done a blooming this for us...and they need to go. It will be a good year for anyone who runs against them....doesnot matter if they are in the sam party or not.....more than likely they will get elected.
