A frind of mine is pregnant but does not wish for the biological father of her unborn child (who she is not married to) to have any parental rights. Is there any way for her to block the biological father from obtaining rights should he try to legitimize the child?

A friend of mine is pregnant, but does not want the biological father of the child to have access to the child. He has been verbally abusive to her and to her children. They are not married. She is not seeking child support. Is her consent necessary for the father to legitimize the child?

No and rightly so. A father has every right to have a say in the upbringing of his child.. You women are quick enough to cry foul when you are looking for money from a bio.. father..

a child is 'legitimate' when the child is the product of a marriage. one can hardly do that without the mother's consent.

apart from keeping bio dad away, she can abort - cause what child should come into the world to a single mom who has already rejected its father? - or she can contact a lawyer.
