I'm just curious about the string size that's best for fast playing on an electric guitar.

I've got some brand loyalty to Ernie Ball, and right now I'm using 0.10 - 0.46. Should I go one lighter? Do lighter strings cause more fret wear?

It's really a matter of opinion. However, I think 0.10's are pretty optimal. They are light enough to be stretchy but heavy enough not to sound weak. If anything I would consider going a bit heaver rather than lighter.

A lot of famous players tended to use much heaver strings. Among them Jimi Hendrix and Steve Ray Vaughn. The heavier strings give a meatier sound but are a bit harder on the fingers.
