Try turning the mattress upside down first. Then take a carpet shampooer, shampoo the carpet AND the mattress, all around! After they are dry, spray a strong ant and roach killer all over the mattress and let it soak in. Place a bug bomb in the room, you may even want to do the whole house. Leave the bug sprays on for several days. Wash all bedding pillows, etc. in the washer with HOT soapy, bleach water. (Sleep elsewhere for several days.) Then use the hairdryer trick before sleeping on it again to see if they're completely gone. If not, repeat or replace the carpet and mattress. But I think replacing everything first, is a bit extreme--not to mention expensive!!

Here are some Bed Bug do-it-yourself Tips before you call an exterminator:

* Thoroughly wash, vacuum and clean all surfaces and bedding.

* Wash and/or dry-clean bedding and all affected clothing. Use hot water and a dryer on the hottest setting whenever possible.

* Vacuum mattresses. Seal mattresses in plastic. Leave them outside in hot sun for as long as possible.

* Steam clean all carpets and rugs.

* Spray cracks in walls, floors, and crevices with insecticides designed to control bed bugs. Follow directions carefully. Do not treat bedding with insecticide, or any places which people will contact.

If you have tried theses methods and you still can't get rid of bed bugs, you may need to hire a professional. A qualified exterminator uses stronger insecticides to kill bedbugs. Repeated treatments may be necessary to ensure that all bedbugs are killed.

Take a blower dryer to your bed and heat it up and see if they come up they are attracted to heat. Bed bugs are flat round kind of look like ticks they eat blood when they are full they will get off you, they don't like animals though. The only way to truely get rid of them is with an extermatior.

You have to treat your pillows and the mattress, in addition to washing bedding in hot water. I think the spray that you can get to kill lice on furniture will work for bed bugs too.

See the attached link.

You may have to get a new bed. Bedding will have to be washed in hot. They spread easily, so it's good that you found them.

In the worst case, call a professional.
