My Mazda MX-6 with over 200K miles is experiencing one tiny problem. The plug for cylinder 1 keeps getting loose after a few days of installing or tightening. I usually have to tighten that one particular plug every weekend after which the car runs fine for a few days before a slight miss, something like a hiccup, comes back to haunt me. When the car is started up and the hood is open, whiffs of smoke can be seen escaping the area around the plug. Any solutions to rid this problem once and for all without affecting its actual performance or causing issues when its time to change the plugs at a later date? Please advise. Thanks.

Teflon tape on the threads may help. A washer is provided I think, if not, may want to put a Nylon or metal washer on it that has some ridges in it like a lock washer. The teflon tape is prolly the best route, it will help with any compression loss and help secure the plug in the threads.

Buy one new plug. A new plug comes with a washer that prevents loosening. Someone probably removed that spark plug and lost the washer.
