I had charley horses several times when I was pregnant - they are no fun! As some of the other posters said, be sure to keep up on your water consumption and extra potassium (e.g., bananas) does help, too.
Another important thing to remember is to not stretch your legs with your toes pointed down. Stretch with your toes pointed up, and your heel down - it will stretch your calf muscle out rather than 'bunching it up.'

Could be - I would give a quick call to the OB just to be sure. Your body does some crazy things during pregnancy including retaining and eliminating water (and their salts) at fantastic rates. Potassium is one of the salts which helps control muscles and keep them smooth and relaxed. If you lose too much at one time it could bring on some painful cramping (I get them in my feet). It could also be a sudden increase in your weight (due to calorie intake and/or water retention)_that has made your muscles go a little crazy.
It could also be that it was just your time in the cosmic calendar of events to experience your first Charlie Horse !!! Call the doctor and I hope you never have another one !
Good luck

I started getting those around that time and that week I was to see my OB so I ask her about it. She said eat bananas in the evening and put a bar of Dial soap under the mattress. Well I am 30 weeks pregnant and haven't had a leg cramp since. Try it.!!!! It really worked for me. Good Luck.

Yes, your muscles have become loosened because of the pregnancy. Usually a good workout video that's dedicated to pregnant woman is the best remedy. Use the video three to four times a week and strengthen the muscles. You'll feel alot better.

I started having them at about 14 weeks and they lasted right up to the day I delivered, try eating a banana or drinking milk before bed, I don't know why but it helped me.
