Let C and E be number of center and end tickets sold. One equation for number of tickets, one for the money:

C + E = 750
10C + 5E = 6375

Multiply the 1st equation by 5 and subtract it from the 2nd:

10C + 5E = 6375
5C + 5E = 3750
-----------------------
5C ........ = 2650
C = 530
E = 220

This is how you do it :
let x be the number of 5$ tickets and y the number of 10$ tickets.
x+y=750 (Since there were 750 fans)
5x+10y=6375 (the total amount being 6375$)
(Now, you just solve the simultaneous equation)
-5x - 5y = -3750 (*(-5) the previous equation)
5x +10y = 6375
0x + 5y = 2625 (when you add the xs and ys)
y = 2625/5=525
Thus x = 750 - y = 750 - 525 = 225
So 225 tickets costing 5$ (each) and 525 tickets costing 10$ (each) were sold. You can check by multiplying if you want.

I hope this helps.

x = number of $10 tickets cost is 10X
750-x = number of $5 tickets cost is 5(750-x)
total cost is:
6375 = 10x +5(750-x)
6375 = 10x +3750 - 5x

subtract 3750 from both sides of equation

2625 = 10x - 5x
2625 = 5 x
x= 525 tickets @ $10
750-x = 750 -525 = 225 tickets @ $5

10x + 5y= 6375
x + y= 750

10x + 5y= 6375
-5x - 5y= -3750

5x = 2625
x = 525

10x + 5y= 6375
10(525) + 5y= 6375
5250 + 5y= 6375
5y= 6375 - 5250
5y= 1125
y= 225

so: they sold 525 $10 tix (center section)
they sold 225 $5 tix (end section)

Set up a two-variable, two-equation system. One equation comes from the total number of tickets. The other comes from the total sales.

Good luck!
